The Smart Homes Builder Incentive Program
The Smart Homes Alliance (SHA) is an
industry coalition focused on promoting and
partnering with Arizona Home Builders to
increase the use of cement based wall
systems for energy efficiency and
durability. There are a number of different
cement based wall systems, also known simply
as concrete walls, which a builder
can choose from. In this market, a Home
Builder can use any of these innovative
concrete wall systems to construct a product
that helps differentiate themselves from
their competition. The resulting product
will be a home that is energy efficient,
durable, and affordable.
The SHA recognizes the fact that when making
a change to a new type of building system, a
builder can incur additional costs as they
overcome the “learning curve” that will
exist in any change of this magnitude. The
Smart Homes Alliance Builder Incentive
Program aims to provide Home Builders
with short-term financial support to help
offset these potential increased
first-costs, while also providing the
education and knowledge that a builder needs
to overcome the learning curve and continue
to build successfully with cement based
systems.
Due to their energy efficiency and
durability, homes constructed with concrete
wall systems are also eligible for a number
of other financial incentives. Some of these
incentives are available to be claimed
directly by the builder, and others are
available to the home buyer. The SHA Program
will identify and track these various
incentives and educate the builder in how
they can claim these incentives and credits,
and how they can utilize buyer incentives to
create increased sales opportunities.
